With a sound that melds 60's garage and 70's vintage rock with 80's and 90's noise-rock citing influences ranging from Led Zeppelin to Sonic Youth, The Velvet Underground and Joy Division, The Academy have been seen as a breath of fresh air in Hong Kong's live music scene. By setting up and playing in warehouses, art galleries, dance clubs, and anywhere else they can set up and play since their inception under two years ago, they have forced the local industry to take notice. Thriving on an incendiary live show, the band's following has moved rapidly from support slots to sold out headlining shows.

The band recently finished recording their debut EP, due for release on November 12 to coincide with the band's third consecutive Rockit Festival in Victoria Park, Hong Kong. The band hope to head into China for a series of dates, as well as more live shows in the near future.
